18 Inch Distressed Brass Ridged Bell with Shackle

We've taken our largest, most impressive solid brass bell and made it better by adding a hand applied "distressed" finish that makes it seem like a priceless antique. Because this unique finish includes natural looking dents and pits, we've made the bell walls even thicker than our normal, very sturdy 18 inch bells. Because of that it weighs nearly 8 pounds more than the other finishes (90 lbs). This giant bell has a heavy duty, thick round shackle, approximately 5 inches in diameter, that makes it easy to hang with a heavy duty rope or cable. This is our prototype distressed finish 18 inch bell and is currently one of a kind, with more in production hopefully arriving later this fall.

How is this bell different from others you might have seen? Well first of all, many competitors have switched to aluminum with a brass patina or much thinner brass as the cost of that raw material has soared over the years, while we continue to cast ours in the same thickness of solid brass at a price that has gone unchanged for some time. Plus we've changed the way our very heavy duty clapper is attached to the bell itself, with a redundant fail proof system that is much safer than typical clappers that merely screw in and can loosen over time.

Deep, reverberating tone gives this extra large bell a ring usually found only in church and school bells costing many thousands of dollars more, making this brass version perfect for organizations or individuals with a more limited budget. Cast, raised ridges add to the beauty of this big bell while a thick, long hand braided white cotton pull cord is designed to last generations.
